It may be true to say that he was quaint or homely. ![]() Villa-Lobos would say that composition was not necessarily inspiration but a therapeutic necessity. I have often heard it said that Villa-Lobos wrote too much music and the implication is that he never made time to construct a masterpiece! But prolific outputs are known throughout the history of music and it could be said that people such as Haydn and Mozart produced so much so that not all of it is of the highest standard or appeal.
